The U.S. Postal Service said Friday that Hurricane Charley is affecting mail processing, delivery and retail operations along Florida's Gulf Coast.

There were no postal retail or delivery operations Friday in the ZIP code ranges 335-337, 339, 341-342 and 346. The Tampa Processing and Distribution Center, which serves ZIP codes starting with 335, was closed Friday but expected to reopen Aug. 14. The Fort Myers Processing and Distribution Center, which serves ZIP codes beginning with 339, was also closed, but expected to reopen at 8 p.m. Friday.

The Manasota Processing and Distribution Center, which serves ZIP codes beginning with 342, was closed Friday but expected to reopen Aug. 14. The St. Petersburg Processing and Distribution Center, which serves ZIP codes starting with 337, was closed Friday but expected to open Aug. 14.

Postal facilities in other areas with mail destined for affected Florida sites have been instructed to hold this mail at its originating point, or en route, until conditions permit it to be transported to affected processing locations.
