Healtheon, Kozmo Lay Off Employees

Healtheon/WebMD and Kozmo.com both announced layoffs on Friday.

Kozmo, which provides home delivery of food, videos and other products, said it would lay off between 30 and 40 people. The cuts were in addition to roughly 300 employees who were let go earlier this year. Kozmo, New York, also said it would postpone its initial public offering until early next year, and instead would focus on making the company profitable.

Healtheon/WebMD, Atlanta, also is focusing on the bottom line. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that the company will drop 100 jobs in the first round of layoffs designed to trim $75 million in expenses. The cutbacks are part of Healtheon's plan to turn a profit by the end of next year.
