Harte-Hanks Inc., San Antonio, TX, has bolstered its pharmaceutical sales organization with the Dec. 14 acquisition of new media and interactive solutions provider Spectral Resources, Woodstock, NY.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Spectral employs over 20 people and counts most major pharmaceutical firms as clients including Merck, Novartis, Parke-Davis, Pfizer, and SmithKlineBeecham. It also works with advertising agencies including Bozell Health Care, FBC Healthcare Communications and Lowe McAdams.

Spectral produces online, PC and CD-ROM based programs that are used to inform and influence healthcare providers, administrators and consumers. Services include the development of client Web sites and production of educational and promotional videos.

The acquisition gives Spectral more opportunities to touch more customers and enables Harte-Hanks to offer more services to its customer base, said Harte-Hanks CFO Jacques Kerrest. Spectral is the company's first healthcare/pharmaceutical acquisition since forming its national sales organization.
