Harte-Hanks Buys Britain's Global Address
Direct-marketing firm Harte-Hanks Inc. has acquired Global Address, a British company that provides postal-addressing software and services that conform to the standards of more than 230 nations and territories worldwide.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The announcement was made on July 31.
Global Address, located in Bristol, Britain, with additional operations in Mountain View, CA, focuses on address data and has provided key components of Harte-Hanks Global Data Management, a data services offering.
San Antonio-based Harte-Hanks also announced that it plans to integrate elements of Global Address into its existing international offerings, among them Global Data Management and its Trillium Software data quality solutions, while continuing to support stand-alone Global Address products and services in the marketplace.
In addition, Harte-Hanks will work to maintain existing arrangements with Global Address end users, resellers and original equipment manufacturer integrators in the Americas, Europe-Middle East-Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions.
Global Address products have Unicode capability, which enables the reading of complex character sets of many alphabets like Russian, Chinese and Hellenic.
Among current customers of Global Address are firms in the technology, manufacturing, financial and publishing fields.
In other Harte-Hanks news, PennySaverUSA.com, the Web site of the shopper publications of Harte-Hanks has entered into a relationship with the Association of Free Community Papers, a not-for-profit organization in Idaho Springs, CO, that represents 2,000 free-circulation community papers and shoppers reaching 45 million homes.
Under the agreement, AFCP would designate PennySaverUSA.com as the association's vendor of choice for Web services and online classifieds aggregation for its members.
As part of the agreement, AFCP will market and support the PennySaverUSA.com Web site where individual AFCP members can get Web classified services and list their own classifieds online, laying the groundwork for a nationwide network of local classified advertising online.
