Harris: 76% of Adults on DNC List
At 76 percent, the figure shows continued growth from a similar poll in the two previous years. In 2004, 57 percent said they were registered for the DNC list, up from 32 percent in 2003.
Awareness of the registry also was up, at 94 percent in 2005 compared with 91 percent in 2004 and 71 percent in 2003.
In terms of telemarketing calls received by consumers on the list, 18 percent said they had gotten no calls in 2005 as opposed to 25 percent in 2004. In 2005, 61 percent said they received "Some, but far less than before," compared with 53 percent in 2004. Twelve percent said "Some, but a little less than before," in 2005 versus 14 percent in 2004.
Just 6 percent in 2005 and 5 percent in 2004 said that the call volume was about the same as before they signed up, and 1 percent each year said they got more calls after signing up.
Harris Interactive conducted the survey of 1,961 U.S. adults online between Dec. 8 and Dec. 14.
