GSI Commerce turns to Hartmann to run global operations unit

GSI Commerce has named Tobias Hartmann CEO of its global operations organization, the company said June 1. Hartmann will manage GSI's customer service and direct response businesses, as well as its freight services, and will oversee more than 3,400 employees.

Hartmann joins GSI from D&S GMBH, a European customer management group, where he had served as COO since 2005. Previously, he was a member of the management board at Loyalty Partner GmbH.

In another recent high-level appointment at the company, GSI Global Marketing Services International said May 25 that it has promoted Simone Barratt to the newly-created role of president.

EBay agreed to acquire GSI in March. GSI bought sports merchandise retailer Fanatics for $277 million in February and acquired analytics company ClearSaleing for an undisclosed amount the prior month.

A GSI representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
