GSD&M Creates PSAs for Ad Council's Hand to Red Cross

The Advertising Council is partnering with the American Red Cross to introduce a series of national public service ads to direct traffic to the charity's Web site in response to the aftermath from Hurricane Katrina.

Television, radio and online ads will push Americans to the site at www.redcross.org to donate toward Katrina-related disaster relief. The ads support the Red Cross in its largest mobilization of resources for a single natural disaster nationally.

Omnicom Group Inc. ad agency GSD&M, Austin, TX, created the disaster relief ads pro bono in only two days. Also, new GSD&M-created print ads with information on resources and support for Katrina victims will launch in a few weeks.

All ads will run in time and space donated by media. The National Cable & Telecommunications Association and the National Association of Broadcasters have asked their members to air the ads. FastChannel Network already committed to digitally distributing the radio and TV spots.
