Group Publishing turns to Dovetail for database

Group Publishing Inc., publisher of Children's Ministry, Rev and Group magazines, as well as other Christian ministry resources, has tapped Dovetail to build and manage its marketing database.

Dovetail helped Group build a single database from more than half a dozen disparate data sources, including fulfillment company lists, event registrations and vendors. Prior to signing with Dovetail, Group relied on internal and ad hoc systems to manage its database, which holds names dating back 30 years.

“For years, we've recognized a need to have tight control on the communications and solicitations we're sending to our customers, leads and prospects,” said Chris Howley, director of database marketing and research services, Group Publishing.

The publisher has 30 direct marketers on staff, reaching out to 375,000 churches nationwide, as well as millions of individuals, wholesalers and distributors. Children's Ministry magazine reports an average monthly circulation of 50,000. Group's marketing programs use direct mail and e-mail and, of late, it has added multichannel efforts combining direct mail, Web and telephone.
