Group 1 Introduces Web Software

Group 1 Software, Lanham, MD, a database marketing software provider, recently introduced TrueLead, a Web software solution that helps marketers customize Web site information and validates customer addresses in real time against the U.S. Postal Service database.

TrueLead forms -- which can be used for order taking or customer surveys -- are processed by a Java applet in the customer's Web browser. According to Group 1, this function enables a faster and more personalized exchange of information between the two Web sites, which ultimately improves customer support and service.

"Since TrueLead offers intelligent and immediate direction of the service issue and associated information, companies can improve their customer support and service," said Jim Stafford, director of analytical solutions at Group 1. He said any kind of customer support, market research and sales-related activities that are Web-based can be supported via TrueLead.

The software uses Group 1's CODE-I Plus address correction system to correct minor errors or incomplete information in real time.

"When a customer is asked to input his or her address, TrueLead will automatically check [the address] using our integrated CODE-1 Plus product," Stafford said. "It will correct the address if there is a mistake in the address. And, if the mistake is so bad that it is uncorrectable, in real time a message will come back up on the screen that says, 'We have been unable to validate your address, could you please check your ZIP code' or something like that."

The product has four components: A Java applet, a Visual Designer, a TrueLead Server, and a CODE-1 Plus server. Pricing starts at $1,255.
