Google hires eBay veteran Tilenius as commerce VP

Google has hired eBay veteran Stephanie Tilenius to serve as VP of commerce, a newly created position.

The hire comes as the company is strengthening its position in the e-commerce space. Last month, Google began selling Nexus One mobile phones on its own e-commerce site. Google has also said that it plans to launch an e-book store this year.

Tilenius comes to Google from eBay, where she served in a number of roles across eBay properties, including PayPal. Her most recent position was SVP and general manager for eBay North America and global product.

Although a Google spokesperson confirmed the details of her hire, Tilenius was not available for comment.
