Golf League Takes Swing at E-Mail Campaign

The World Golf League Inc. plans an e-mail campaign to 20 million opt-in contacts, the league said yesterday.

Set to begin Nov. 3, the campaign will target consumers who expressed interest in receiving golf-related materials. It is expected to last 12 months. The e-mail campaign follows a September telemarketing effort to 4 million prospects that offered a membership in the league for $9.95 per month.

The league expects the campaign to generate 10,000 new memberships per month, which would bring in $12 million in new revenue over the 12-month campaign, the league said. The league aims to generate 130,000 new members in 2004 from all its marketing media including e-mail, telemarketing, print and television advertising.

The league plans to follow up with e-mail newsletters to some prospects, based on their responses. The World Golf League, Altamonte Springs, FL, holds golf tournaments open to all players.
