Global DirectMail To Change Name to Systemax

Global DirectMail Corp., Port Washington, NY, a direct marketer of several brands of computers through catalogs and other channels, said it would change its name to Systemax Inc. and change its Web address to www.systemax.com. Global also said it will consolidate most of its laptops, desktops and servers under the Systemax name and incorporate a new direct response element in its marketing.


Global computers currently are sold under the Solis, MidWest Micro, Tiger, and Ultra brands. The company said it would to continue to offer the Ultra brand for value-added resellers.


The company, which said it generates about $1.5 million per week in sales through its Web sites, also said it would change its trading symbol on the New York Stock Exchange to SYX. It currently trades as GML.
