Global DirectMail Finishes Dabus Acquisition

Direct mail computer products retailer Global DirectMail Corp. completed its acquisition of Dabus Dataprodukter AB, a computer and computer supplies direct marketer based in Lidkoping, Sweden.

Terms of the all-cash transaction were not disclosed. Global, whose sales exceed $1 billion annually, put Dabus' revenue at $10 million. The Dabus buy marks Global's fourth acquisition of a catalog company in Europe since 1990.

A Global spokeswoman said Dabus' targeted market is consistent with Global's current business, which is aimed at European and North American corporate accounts, small-office and home-office customers and value-added resellers. Privately-held Dabus will continue to distribute products to the Swedish market through its 120-page catalog and Internet site, www.dabus.se. Global currently operates more than a dozen Web sites.

The company hopes the Dabus acquisition will give it a gateway into other Scandinavian countries by allowing it to carry out cross-border mailings in the region.
