Global DataTel Set to Acquire Latin-Pak

Global DataTel Inc., Delray Beach, FL, a computer systems integrator serving markets throughout Latin America, yesterday signed a letter of intent to acquire Latin-Pak, Los Angeles, a distributor of marketing materials to Hispanic households in major U.S. markets.

The terms of the all-stock transaction, which is expected to close by May 30, were not disclosed, although a GlobalTel spokesman said the deal valued Latin-Pak at less than $10 million.

Global DataTel said it would form a new division, Latin Media Services, which will include Latin-Pak and will be headed by Latin-Pak founder Vincent Andaloro as president. The division will be responsible for promoting Global DataTel's Spanish-language Web site (www.ehola.com), which carries news from more than 300 cities in Latin America. The company said that the new division would capitalize on Latin-Pak's distribution infrastructure to promote its Web site.

Global DataTel also said it would give away free TV-top computers to all subscribers to its Internet access service, which costs consumers a minimum of $14.95 per month. That promotion is expected to begin in late July.
