Gateway Inc., Los Angeles, and America Online yesterday unveiled a family of small Internet appliances, which will allow consumers to access AOL's service from anywhere in their house.

The AOL Gateway countertop appliances, wireless Web pad and desktop appliances will have features such as calendars, recipes, coupons and grocery lists and work with keyboards, touch-screens or wireless keyboards.

Most of the appliances will include AOL services like its Instant Messenger and chat services.

The appliances will be either mounted to flat surfaces or mobile.

The AOL Gateway Countertop appliance will ship later this year.
