Fusion DM Wins Neopost Online, Storymail Assignments

Direct marketing agency FusionDM, San Francisco, has been selected to handle Neopost Online's Simply Postage division and also Storymail for generating sales leads.

Neopost's Simply Postage is an online postage solution for which FusionDM will create a direct marketing strategy to drive traffic to the client's Web site. There was no incumbent on this assignment. Simply Postage's campaign is scheduled to kick off in mid-July.

"We're helping them relaunch the product and sell into smaller offices," said Chris Peterson, CEO of FusionDM. "They worked on the product to make it more user-friendly, and they beefed up their customer service."

Simply Postage Promail combines a meter, printer and scale into a small, hand-sized desktop unit. Neopost Online is a wholly owned arm of Paris-based Neopost, which received approval from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999 to offer online postage.

FusionDM will start with e-mail as a test platform to determine the best strategy for generating sales for Simply Postage. It will leverage results across additional e-mail lists and begin traditional direct mail.

For Storymail, a Los Gatos, CA, provider of rich media e-mail services, FusionDM will take the product to the marketplace.

"They've just received an additional round of funding, and with this round they want to go out and promote their rich media technology to marketing organizations, and we would really use e-mail, direct mail, Web site and printouts," Peterson said. "There will be heavy emphasis on e-mail wherever we can, but it's not easy to reach marketing executives with e-mail since e-mail lists tend to combine both sales and marketing people. It's going to be easier to use direct mail to reach organizations."

Owned by MarketFirst, FusionDM was founded in 1988 and has clients such as Hewlett-Packard Co., United Healthcare, Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions, Peregrine Systems, Inktomi, Xerox, 3Com and Nortel Networks.
