Budco acquires Direct Group divisions

Budco, a Highland Park, MI-based marketing firm, announced its acquisition of two divisions of Direct Group on February 1. Direct Group's Piscataway, NJ database management and marketing analytics group and its Robbinsville, NJ fulfillment center will move under Budco management.

Shipping rates rise 4.9% in coming year

Rate increases by major shippers FedEx and UPS go into effect January 4, 2010. FedEx announced this month that it will increase standard rates for FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery by an average of 4.9% next year. The shipper disclosed earlier that it will raise shipping rates for FedEx Express by an average of 5.9% for US domestic and US export services, also effective next month.

Merkle's response group chosen by Catholic humanitarian organization

Nonprofit humanitarian agency Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is working with Merkle's Response Management Group on database and fulfillment services for its Operation Rice Bowl program. The campaign is being promoted mostly through direct mail to churches and other Catholic organizations.
