FTC Guide Details Marketing Rules

The Federal Trade Commission has released a new guide, "Advertising and Marketing on the Internet: Rules of the Road," to provide online marketers with an overview of some of the laws it enforces.

The guide provides an outline to numerous topics and shows how rules that are applied to other forms of advertising are applicable to online advertising, including laws enforced by the FTC, consumer privacy protection, credit and financial issues, negative option orders, and warranties and guarantees. It also lists the numerous fines and punishments that can be levied if a marketer fails to comply with its regulations.
