Frontenac Buys National System

Private equity investment firm Frontenac Co. said yesterday that it acquired National System Inc., a marketing services company that provides local market programs for major consumer and retail brands. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mark Mantovani will continue as CEO, according to Frontenac, Chicago. Former Wunderman chairman/CEO Jay Bingle was named chairman.

National System, St. Louis, offers services such as co-operative advertising compliance, marketing communications, digital asset management, direct mail and various creative advertising services to a stable of large, market-leading clients in the automotive, wine and spirits and retail/restaurant industries.

Mantovani said the transaction would give National System the resources to "further penetrate the automotive and retail/restaurant industries and to expand our business to adjacent industries."
