Forrester: Travel Fears Will Boost Web Shopping for Holidays

Forrester Research, Cambridge, MA, said yesterday it is sticking with its forecast of online holiday sales growing 10 percent from 2000.


The firm said the increase may be a byproduct of the war against terrorism.


The prediction is based on Forrester's expectation that travel-wary consumers will send holiday gifts via Internet stores rather than visit families this year.


The 2001 sales could reach $11 billion, Forrester said.
