Former DMA EVP to lead Pitney Bowes' production mail equipment unit

Pitney Bowes will announce September 10 that it has named Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan president of its document messaging technologies unit, according to industry sources.

The unit markets Pitney's production mail equipment and software to large-volume direct marketing mailers, particularly in the financial services and insurance industries.

Pitney Bowes would not comment on the appointment, although sources confirmed the hire.

Lakshmi-Ratan is out of the country and could not be reached for comment.

He was the Direct Marketing Association's EVP and COO until announcing his resignation September 2. At that time, John Greco, CEO of the group, announced Lakshmi-Ratan was leaving his post to join a DMA member company.

The DMA said it will not replace Lakshmi-Ratan.
