FordDirect will offer its DealerDirect online service to Lincoln Mercury dealers nationwide by the end of next year, the company said yesterday.

DealerDirect for Lincoln Mercury is a collaboration among FordDirect, Lincoln Mercury Division and Lincoln Mercury dealers to provide the brands an extended online presence and drive potential buyers to their local Lincoln Mercury dealer.

FordDirect said that currently more than 70 percent of consumers shopping for a vehicle research the purchase online before they step into a dealership. DealerDirect aims to reach these consumers earlier in the shopping experience through the program's affiliation with Internet portals and third-party providers.

FordDirect is a joint venture between Ford Motor Co. and its Ford franchised dealers.
