Flycell Enters U.S. Wireless Infotainment Market

Italian mobile messaging firm Acotel Group launched its U.S. consumer brand Flycell yesterday.

The New York-based subsidiary will deliver personalized infotainment -- customized information and entertainment -- directly to cell-phone and wireless-device users nationwide. Flycell users will be able to choose to receive various wireless services including news, community newsletters, custom ringtones, games and personalized greeting cards.

Media companies will be able to target Flycell users, honing in on specific communities and lifestyles.

Flycell (www.flycell.com) is carrier agnostic. All major wireless carriers can offer its messaging services to cell-phone and wireless-device users.

Acotel, founded in 1992, serves more than 35 million end users through customers like IBM, Orange, Radio Hit Channel, Tiscali, Vodafone and Telecom Italia Mobile. It enabled nearly 500 million paid text and multimedia messages last year.
