Firstlogic Releases International Presort for Canada

Firstlogic Inc., La Crosse, WI, announced the general availability yesterday of its International Presort solution, part of the Postalsoft suite of mail automation software.

International Presort aims to provide mailers the capabilities to meet new mail sorting requirements for delivery of mail through the Canadian postal system.

The solution is certified by Canada Post Corp. It supports Incentive Lettermail (similar to USPS First Class), Publications Mail (similar to USPS Periodicals) and Addressed Admail (similar to USPS Standard).

Firstlogic's technology supports phantom pricing, a practice endorsed by Canada Post in which customers are charged for additional pieces to meet required minimums for a postal sortation.

For example, if a mailer had only 800 pieces in a sortation that requires 1,000, the mailer could choose to pay the postage for an additional 200 pieces to receive the lower postage costs.
