Fired CEO Makes Cameo Appearance in Sears Canada Catalog
Along with many new products, Sears Canada Inc.'s latest catalog also prominently features the company's ex-CEO.He was fired in August.
According to a report yesterday on Canadian Press, Canada's national newswire, photographs of Mark Cohen appear on the catalog's cover and third page, along with statements such as: "My signature is your assurance that my buyers delivered!" and "I have personally approved every item in this catalog."
The book had been printed before anyone was aware of the change in leadership, Sears Canada director of corporate communications Vincent Power told Canadian Press yesterday. Adjusting the catalog would have caused significant delay and additional costs, he added.
"It didn't seem to us that it would make a big difference to [customers] that it was our former CEO," Power said.
Cohen was replaced by Brent Hollister, who had been the company's president and chief operating officer.
