FindWhat Signs Search Deal With Canadian YP Publisher

FindWhat.com said yesterday that it signed a local paid search deal with Canadian directory publisher Yellow Pages Group.

FindWhat, Fort Myers, FL, will license its paid listings platform for YPG to sell paid search listings on its Internet directory sites, YellowPages.ca, Canada411.ca and CanadaTollFree.ca. Montreal-based YPG also operates local city guide sites through CanadaPlus.ca.

YPG plans to launch its paid search network before the end of the year and target Canadian businesses looking to reach local consumers. The service will operate in English and French.

FindWhat and YPG will share revenue generated from clicks on the paid listings. The revenue split was not disclosed.

The YPG deal is similar to one FindWhat struck in the United States with Verizon Information Services to power its paid search platform on SuperPages.com. FindWhat also has private-label arrangements with Lycos, Thomas Global Register and Mitsui & Co. in Japan. Since its launch in March, SuperPages.com has signed 11,000 advertisers for paid search listings.
