Financial Firms Move to Secure Instant Messaging

Eight leading financial institutions have teamed with SecuritiesHub LLC, an online financial community that links securities dealers and institutional investors, to deploy Communicator Hub IM, a secure instant messaging service that will be used to communicate with employees and clients worldwide.


Credit Suisse First Boston, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Salomon Smith Barney and UBS Warburg, along with more than 2,000 of their institutional money management clients, last week began deploying the Communicator Hub IM service.


Communicator Hub IM, provided by White Plains, NY-based Communicator Inc., a provider of secure electronic communications products and services to Fortune 1000 companies, said the product also enables one-click access to authorized content and applications.


Communicator Hub IM can be used as a stand-alone application or in a Web browser. It features standard instant messaging features as well as nonstandard features such as unified identity management, controlled access to content and applications, interoperability of corporate directories and the ability to comply with audit and regulatory requirements.


Pricing for Communicator Hub IM begins at $50 per user, per year.
