FedEx Starts Asia-to-U.S. Freight Service

Three FedEx subsidiaries began a freight delivery service yesterday from Asia to virtually all continental U.S. ZIP codes.

FedEx Trade Networks will facilitate the preparation and containerization of shipments in Asia and manage the ocean portion of the service as well as customs clearance and document preparation.

FedEx Freight and FedEx Ground will handle distribution once shipments are cleared at U.S. container freight stations in gateway cities.

Users of the service will be able to track shipment status through the FedEx Web site. FedEx said customers can cut multiple days from their overall transit times using FedEx Trade Networks Ocean-Ground Distribution service compared with traditional Asia-U.S. ocean ground transit times.
