FedEx Rebrands Parcel Direct as FedEx SmartPost

FedEx Corp., Memphis, TN, yesterday announced a new brand identity for recently acquired national parcel consolidator Parcel Direct. It will be known as FedEx SmartPost.

The New Berlin, WI-based subsidiary of FedEx Ground, which is the small-package ground delivery unit of FedEx Corp., begins operating under the new brand immediately.

FedEx SmartPost operates a network built to place low-weight, less time-sensitive packages into the U.S. Postal Service system, typically at the local post office level for final delivery to residences. Customers in the e-tail and catalog industries increasingly have requested this service, which takes advantage of the competitive postage rates available through the USPS.
