FedEx Ground Picks Site for Distribution Hub

FedEx Ground chose a 93-acre site in Olive Branch, MS, for a package distribution hub to be constructed. It is scheduled to open in 2006.

The hub is part of a $1.8 billion network expansion plan to nearly double average daily hub package volume capacity in North America.

FedEx already has opened new hubs in Hutchins, TX, the northern Kentucky-Cincinnati area and Hagerstown, MD. In addition to the Olive Branch site, plans call for five more hubs to be built in the next six years.

The 330,000 square-foot facility will feature material handling technology designed to process 22,500 packages hourly and will have a workforce of about 60 full-time and 325 part-time workers as well as 70 independent contractors.
