Federated Sales Up 3.3%

Federated Department Stores, Cincinnati, announced second-quarter earnings yesterday that it described as slightly exceeding expectations.


Sales of $3.55 billion were up 3.3 percent over the same period last year. Sales also rose 3.3 percent on a same-store basis.


For the year-to-date period, Federated's sales totaled $7.07 billion, a 5.1 percent increase over last year, as same-store sales rose 5 percent.
