Federated Partners With WeddingChannel.com

Internet bridal registry WeddingChannel.com, Los Angeles, and Federated Department Stores Inc., Cincinnati, yesterday announced their agreement to bring together both company's expertise in the $10 billion wedding gifts and bridal services arena. Federated will invest an undisclosed amount into WeddingChannel.com.


By combining bridal registry operations from Federated's 403 retail stores and associated online sites with WeddingChannel.com's content, the companies will create what will be the world's largest online wedding registry hub. Wdding party planners and consumers will be just a click away from the product inventories of Federated's retail operations which include Bloomingdale's, The Bon Marche, Burdines, Goldsmith's, Lazarus, Macy's, Rich's and Stern's.


According to Donald Drapkin, chairman of WeddingChannel.com, the companies also will make use of their relationship with Conde Nast's BRIDE'S.
