Facebook debuts developer consultant program for brands

Facebook introduced a preferred developer consultant program November 16, in a move to help connect brands with consultants who specialize in optimizing marketing experiences on Facebook Connect or on Facebook fan pages.

The initial program includes a group of 14 consultant companies, such as Context Optional and Wildfire, who have worked with brands such as Red Bull, Chase, MTV and Disney to create social media experiences.

“Over the past year we have seen a lot of brands and companies build interesting Facebook experiences on our platform,” Justin Osofsky, head of product marketing at Facebook Connect, told DMNews. “A lot of companies have been asking us who to work with to build pages to help them, so we are launching this program to try to help answer these questions.”

The consultant directory will live on the Facebook developer wiki so that brands can access it.

“We work on a lot of initiatives to try to make brands have a good experience working on Facebook, we want to make it even easier for them to work with us,” Osofsky added.
