Excite Targets Community Advertising

By making its community service available to all Web users, search engine Excite, Redwood City, CA, says marketers can target their advertising more effectively. Excite Communities (www.excite.com) currently has more than 2,000 communities that have been created by its users.


A spokesman said the community format will increase marketing capabilities because the people within those "communities are all there because they share a common interest." The communities range in categories from family groups to entertainment fan clubs to small businesses online.
