Excalibur, Orbital Software Enter Agreement

Excalibur Technologies, Vienna, VA -- a provider of content management solutions for indexing and retrieving text, video and images on intranets and the Internet -- earlier this month announced a software licensing and joint marketing agreement with Orbital Software, Boston, a provider of person-to-person, question-and-answer infrastructure solutions for Internet and corporate portals.

Orbital will integrate Excalibur RetrievalWare, a Web-based search application, into the latest version of Organik, Orbital's profiling-based question-and-answer infrastructure software. The companies also will engage in several joint marketing initiatives on a global basis.

The companies asserted that by combining the two solutions, businesses will be able to access static data from a wide range of information repositories as well as capture and share tacit information in the form of questions and answers.
