Eurekster, Maporama Team on Community Search
Maporama International, Paris, which provides geocentric services for businesses and individuals, will use SearchPublisher to tailor its site to its users. Already, Maporama's site lets visitors find maps and plan travel routes in 26 languages and across 200 countries.
With SearchPublisher, after Maporama customers conduct searches for hotels and other travel services, they get results "whose ranking and relevance are dynamically tuned by their fellow visitors," according to Eurekster, San Francisco.
Visitors also will see "What's Hot," a sidebar of information that their peers have found of interest based on country of origin and intended destination.
"Our service requires relevancy, whether it be online maps, routes, traffic conditions or lodging at a destination," said Ludovic Broquereau, vice president of corporate marketing at Maporama. "Eurekster's SearchPublisher lets our users receive relevant Web search results from their country and lets them share searches of interest."
SearchPublisher, launched in early August and used by U.S. teen site Bolt.com, improves the relevancy of results through continual behavioral analysis of the search results that users click on and find useful.
With the technology, Web sites publish user-generated content while maintaining their branding and the look and feel of their sites, Eurekster CEO Steven Marder said.
"Publishers lose traffic to generic search engines because they don't offer their users a Web search with a differentiated or specialized value-add that retains them," Marder said.
By providing a unique and relevant search, publishers can build brand loyalty and provide increased ad revenue opportunities, he said.
