EU Services Installs Merlin

Direct mail production facility EU Services has installed a U.S. Postal Service Merlin machine at its facility, the company said yesterday.

Merlin, which stands for Mailing Evaluation Readability Lookup Instrument, is a mail verification device that checks everything from barcode readability to mail serration levels and tray tag readability to ensure that mail pieces comply with postal regulations.

The USPS plans to install 65 Merlin units in the Washington metropolitan area by March. National deployment of these machines is expected to be completed in two years.
