Exchange Applications Inc., Boston, has announced that Ernst & Young LLP has selected Valex, Exchange's campaign manager, as its recommended campaign management solution.

To encourage its clients to consider Valex, Ernst & Young will showcase the software in its six Advanced Development Centers in the U.S., alongside complementary applications such as Siebel Systems' sales-force automation software.

Ernst & Young is one of the world's leading accounting, tax and consulting firms, with a significant practice dedicated to customer relationship management. Joint customers of the two firms will benefit from Exchange Applications' domain expertise in customer optimization and Ernst & Young's ability to develop and implement fully integrated solutions that effectively combine the best in data warehouses, data mining tools, campaign management systems and call center technology.

Ernst & Young and Exchange Applications share a common method for optimizing customer value, called Value Exchange Optimization.

VEO helps companies answer the question: "How much value did we receive in exchange for the investment made in each customer?" Ernst & Young has successfully applied this method at many client sites to measure the ROI of customer relationship management initiatives.

In addition, HNC Software Inc., San Diego, and Exchange Applications have announced a strategic alliance for the integration and joint marketing of their respective customer relationship management products, ProfitMax and Valex.

By deploying ProfitMax and Valex together, customers of both HNC and Exchange will be able to "achieve a leading-edge campaign management process" that will facilitate continuous communication with their customers, which is going to be based on sophisticated predictive modeling of behavioral triggers.
