Ericsson, Microsoft Debut Mobile E-Mail Service

Ericsson and Microsoft, Redmond, WA, said yesterday that they formally launched their mobile e-mail service venture. The new unit, Ericsson Microsoft Mobile Venture AB, was announced last year. It will be 70 percent owned by Ericsson and 30 percent by Microsoft.


The companies said they expect the new unit to take advantage of the growing wireless market. Lars Boman, vice president and general manager for Internet applications at Ericsson, Stockholm, Sweden, said the number of mobile Internet users is expected to grow from 50 million to 200 million by the end of next year.
