Equifax Posts First-Quarter Revenue Growth

Equifax Inc., Atlanta, last week said that revenue increased 6.4 percent to $479.7 million in the first quarter, compared with first-quarter 2000 revenue of $451.1 million.

Operating income increased 11.9 percent to $99 million in first quarter 2001 from $88.5 million in the year-ago period.

Equifax attributed its performance to strong profit growth in its information services division -- which includes Equifax Direct Marketing Solutions -- and its payment services division, along with new product initiatives and improved operating productivity.

In Equifax's information services division, revenue increased 4.2 percent to $285.1 million and operating income rose 12.2 percent to $83 million in the first quarter.

For the payment services division, revenue increased 9.7 percent to $194.6 million and operating income rose 10.6 percent to $28.7 million in the first quarter.
