EMusic, HP Offer Free MP3 Downloads

EMusic.com Inc., a seller of downloadable MP3 music, has announced an online promotion campaign through computer/electronics firm Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, CA.


For a limited time, retail and online buyers of HP Pavilion home PCs will be offered 25 free MP3 downloads. EMusic looks to add subscribers to its download service through the deal.


EMusic, Redwood City, CA, offers a collection of 150,000 MP3s for as low as $9.99 a month. Through deals with major labels and 600 independent record labels, the Web firm also offers tracks for 99 cents each or entire downloadable albums for $8.99.


Financial details of the agreement were not released.
