See's Candies is using e-mail to promote its holiday products with the tag line, “A See's Chocolate Heart for Your Valentine.” Products range from heart shaped assorted chocolates to sugar free candies or “Scotchmallow Hearts,” a candy shaped for the season. 1-800 Flowers has a host of offerings for the lovers' holiday, but seem to be mainly focused on classic red roses.
To take advantage of the season, e-mail service provider Campaigner has released some tips on how to connect with consumers during this time. The first tip is to promote your special holiday offers up front in the e-mail. This gives consumers the chance to act, without having to fish around.
Another tip is to offer a gift idea, like See's and 1-800 Flowers have done. It really does make it easier as a consumer. A very good tip is to welcome last minute shoppers. Be it last minute shipping offers or specials that reach into the day, many people will be scrambling to get it together at the last minute and will be attracted to such offers.
A great way to win attention is to offer additional incentives, according to Campaigner this includes, “online-only coupons, discounts off future purchases and special membership pricing.”
And last but not least, Campaigner advises to gather additional customer information. It is a great time to let customers update their profiles and share information about their family and friends.
