EFI To Acquire Inkjet Specialist Jetrion

Print management solutions provider EFI has signed an agreement to acquire privately held Jetrion LL, a subsidiary of Flint Group Inc., for approximately $40 million in cash, EFI reported this week.

Jetrion specializes in digital printing, inkjet printers, inks and custom printing systems for the label and packaging industries. The company recently announced plans for a full-color UV inkjet label press.

With the increased demand for short-runs, variable content and fast turn-around in digital printing, EFI, Foster City, CA, views Jetrion's packaging and label printing expertise as an emerging market opportunity, the company said. The acquisition, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter, is also a key move in fulfilling EFI's strategy to expand its presence in the industrial inkjet market.

Jetrion, Ypsilanti, MI, is expected to post revenues of approximately $16 million to $18 million for 2006.
