Eddie Bauer Closures Begin Jan. 9

The Spiegel Group, Downers Grove, IL, this week announced the locations of 29 Eddie Bauer stores it intends to close this year, including 16 that involve lease expirations.


Store-closing sales are expected to start about Jan. 9. The locations will stay open on a store-by-store basis until store-closing inventory sales are completed.


Three closures will occur in California and in Texas while two each will shut down in Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York (one in midtown Manhattan), Oregon, South Carolina and Washington state. Other closures will occur in Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Nevada, Utah and Wisconsin.


Eddie Bauer operates 469 stores in North America, including 330 apparel stores, 36 home stores and 103 outlet stores. Those scheduled for closure include 25 apparel stores and four outlet stores.
