Easy CGI blocks spam with Barracuda firewall

Web-hosting firm Easy CGI joined the likes of Pizza Hut, IBM and the Union Pacific Railroad by tapping Barracuda Networks' spam firewall servers to protect its customers from spam and viruses.

Easy CGI, Pearl River, NY, is a Web host for small and large businesses, processing more than 3 million e-mail messages during a typical business day.

About 90 percent of those messages are spam, so the Web hosting firm implemented Barracuda, Mountain View, CA, for its anti-spam platform.

Barracuda Spam Firewall is an integrated hardware and software solution that protects e-mail services for every shared hosting plan Easy CGI offers.

The platform works to prevent spam and viruses from reaching Easy CGI customers' e-mail boxes.

The Barracuda Spam Firewall updates itself regularly to give comprehensive protection against the most current e-mail-borne threats that can cripple an unprotected network.

Barracuda Networks also offers anti-virus, anti-spoofing, anti-phishing and anti-spyware protection.
