Earnings Up 69% At Harte-Hanks

Buoyed by solid growth in its direct marketing and shoppers business segments, Harte-Hanks, Inc., San Antonio, TX, saw earnings per share grow to 22 cents in the second quarter, a 69.2 percent increase over the same period last year.


The company also reported a revenue increase of 23.7 percent to $186.8 million and net income increase of 66.8 percent to $17.0 million. The direct marketing segment, which includes database marketing, response management and marketing services operations, saw revenue growth of 21.1 percent to $121.5 million, operating cash flow growth of 30.9 percent to $21.4 million and operating income growth of 30.1 percent to $16.5 million. Shoppers saw revenue growth of 29.1 percent to $65.2 million, operating cash flow growth of 38.7 percent to $14.6 million and operating income growth of 37.4 percent to $12.4 million.


For the first half of 1998, revenues grew 25.9 percent to $364.5 million, operating cash flow was up 41.7 percent and operating income up 42.0 percent.
