DraftWorldwide Hires Former Simon Execs

DraftWorldwide has come to the rescue of 14 former executives of promotions firm Simon Marketing, Wakefield, MA, with the launch of a unit for the design and manufacture of custom promotional premiums.

Called Premium Surge, the unit will report to Surge at DraftWorldwide, the Chicago agency's promotional marketing unit. Premium Surge's services will cover premiums and consumer products for the youth and adult markets.

The executives hired to run Premium Surge used to work on McDonald's Happy Meal at Simon Marketing in the promotional premiums division.

Earlier this year Simon Marketing lost the McDonald's business, along with other multimillion-dollar accounts. A Simon security chief in the games and sweepstakes division was accused of stealing McDonald's game pieces and distributing them to cronies who then claimed the prizes. The theft went on for several years.
