DoubleClick Buys Database Firm

DoubleClick Inc., New York, announced its acquisition yesterday of CSC Advanced Database Solutions, a privately held data management solutions company. Financial details of the all-cash transaction were not made public.

CSC, founded in 1981, specializes in building, maintaining and providing access to customer marketing databases for the retail, catalog, financial services, nonprofit and publishing industries.

It has more than 100 employees and 100 customers, which will stay with the firm, DoubleClick said. More than 20 percent of CSC's customers were already customers of DoubleClick's technology or data products.

The acquisition lets DoubleClick extend expanded resources to the existing customers of both companies. It will continue to offer and build the data management solutions business as a standalone offering.

DoubleClick also said it would offer an integrated marketing solution consisting of Data Management Solutions, Abacus, Ensemble, DARTmail, DART, UnityMail, SiteAdvance and ChannelView sometime in the future.
