Donnelley Announces Run for Congress

Shawn Donnelley, currently on leave of absence as manager of political affairs for R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Chicago, announced her candidacy for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Donnelley, who is also chairman of the Direct Marketing Association's political action committee -- called Direct Voice -- hopes to represent the people of the 10th Congressional District in the next Congress. The 10th District is located in the North Shore of Chicago.

If Donnelley, who is running as a Republican, wins, she would be filling a seat vacated by John Porter, R-IL, a moderate who retired last month after an 11-term run.

Donnelly is planning to run on a pro-business, anti-tax platform and ultimately hopes to bring an understanding of the direct marketing industry to Congress. While she has not run for an office before, Donnelly said her experience representing Donnelley's 31,000 employees and families in Washington makes her uniquely qualified to represent the constituents of the 10th District.
