DMA UK: TPS Registration Hits 10 Million

With increasing anxiety from consumers surrounding issues such as silent calls, recorded messages and poor experiences with telemarketing, registrations on the DMA UK's Telephone Preference Service have reached 10 million.

The TPS no-call list is owned and operated by the Direct Marketing Association (UK), which administers it under a five-year contract with OFCOM, the regulator for the UK communications industries, in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications regulations.

DMA UK research showed that awareness of the Telephone Preference Service rose to 50 percent from 41 percent in July 2004, and that 84 percent of consumers are satisfied with the service. Awareness of the TPS is strongly linked to signup, the DMA UK said.
